Vaping Cessation Workshop
In partnership with Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, we developed Vaping Cessation Workshops with the aim of upskilling school staff to assist students to quit vaping within a supportive environment. These workshops seek to meet young people where they are and provide comprehensive, timely cessation support.
What Is Involved?
Informed by the needs of the school community and principles of Empowerment Education, we developed interactive workshops which provide:
- Information about vaping, screening tools & resources
- Case study role plays
- Open group discussions
- Live Q&A sessions with experts

Impact
By participating in the vaping cessation workshop, wellbeing staff:
- Improved their knowledge about vaping
- Increased their awareness of cessation strategies and resources
- Gained confidence to discuss vaping with students and navigate their quit journey.

Next Steps
Looking ahead, we aim to strengthen our impact in Western Sydney by equipping local health professionals with the skills and confidence to deliver clinically oriented cessation support.
In 2024 we held a training workshop for GPs in Riverstone—an initiative we plan to replicate across the area to create a holistic network of support.
